Article 12

Concerning His mediation, Scripture teaches that Christ was called by God to His office, for no one takes this honor upon himself unless called by God, as Aaron was. God appointed His Son by a special promise: Christ would offer Himself as a sacrifice for sin, see His offspring, prolong His days, and prosper in the Lord's purpose. All this proceeds from God's absolutely free grace toward His elect, without any condition foreseen in them to procure it.¹
