Article 18

Christ's priesthood is not temporary or established under the law, but follows the order of Melchizedek and is permanent and perfect, fitting for One who lives forever. Christ is priest, sacrifice, and altar. He is priest according to both natures, sacrifice according to His human nature, and Scripture therefore speaks of His body and blood as the sacrifice. Yet its efficacy depends upon His divine nature, so that it is called the blood of God. He was the altar according to His divine nature, as the altar sanctifies what is offered on it, the altar must be of greater dignity than the sacrifice.
