If civil authorities do not favor our religious liberty, we still dare not suspend our obedience to Christ. We must profess the faith once delivered to the saints, declared in Scripture and expressed in this confession, and bear witness to the Old and New Testaments even unto death if necessary. Neither possessions nor family nor life itself should be dearer to us than finishing our course faithfully and joyfully. We must obey God rather than human beings, remembering that He will give the crown of righteousness to those who keep the faith, and that each of us must give an account to Him.
