Article 40

The proper way to administer baptism is by dipping or plunging the body under water. As a sign, it must correspond to what it signifies: the believer's participation in the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. As surely as the body is buried beneath the water and rises again, so surely will the bodies of the saints be raised by Christ's power on the resurrection day to reign with Him. The term baptizo means to dip or plunge. Both the minister and the person baptized should wear suitable clothing, observing all modesty.
