Article 3

God decreed in Himself before the world existed everything that would occur, whether necessary, accidental, or voluntary, together with all their circumstances. He works, orders, and brings all things about according to the counsel of His own will and for His glory, yet without being the author of sin or having fellowship with anyone in sin. His wisdom appears in His ordering of all things, and His unchangeableness, power, and faithfulness appear in accomplishing His decree. Before the foundation of the world God also predestined certain people to eternal life through Jesus Christ, to the praise of the glory of His grace, leaving the rest in their sin to their just condemnation, to the praise of His justice.¹
