Article 14

Christ's office is threefold: prophet, priest, and king. The number and order of these offices are necessary. Because we are ignorant, we need His prophetic office; because we are greatly alienated from God, we need His priestly office to reconcile us; and because we are unwilling and wholly unable to return to God, we need His kingly office to convict, subdue, draw, uphold, and preserve us for His heavenly kingdom.
